It’s derby day and it’s sensory overload as all you can see is erratic form, hear conflicting opinion, feel the rising tension, taste the bitter rivalry and smell the fear of defeat…but just what is going to happen over the next pulsating 90 minutes?
We at SIX (Soccer IntelX) have been slaving away for years fine tuning our algorithms to better predict the most likely outcome for any football match. Over that period, we have created, customised and manipulated a whole series of mathematical equations and formulas, some of which’s value could be judged to be more Frankenstein than Frankincense! But don’t fret, we disposed with all the scary stuff and now enjoy the sweet smell of success from our labours.
While, we carefully cherry pick the most relevant data sets from the excess of information open to us, we thought it prudent to ask what factors you consider when selecting your bet? Might we hazard a guess at League Position, Home and Away Form and/or Previous meetings between the sides? These are very common factors in determining the outcome, and indeed a common-sense approach… but it’s not SIX-sense.
Over the coming weeks, we will expand on the Soccer IntelX predictive modelling application. However, for now we want to tap into the wealth of football knowledge that exists within our membership, along with securing input from those budding mathematicians and statisticians among you, to further enhance our collective chances of continued betting success.
So, lets have your say on what’s hot and what’s not when it comes to deciding what happens over the next 90 minutes of any game, and just for starters, what’s your thoughts on the order of importance for this lot…
- Home Advantage
- League Position
- Overall League Form
- Home and Away Form (last 4 games)
- Head to Head
And what about the variables…
- Goals Scored/Goals Conceded
- Shots Made/Shots Conceded
- Shots on Target/Shots on Target Conceded
- Ball Possession %
VAR may have helped clarify the score back in ’78… or maybe not!
We’d love to hear from you, so whether you apply complex predictive analytics, or favour the thoughts of next door’s pet octopus… share it with us!
